Moving teeth from one place in your mouth to another isn’t simply a matter of dragging them. Orthodontic movement occurs by a process called remodeling. Bone tissue is destroyed, or resorbed, thanks to cells called osteoclasts; and cells called osteoblasts rebuild new bone. This cycle is called remodeling, and without it, you don’t get orthodontic movement.
