INVISALIGN
What is Invisalign?
A healthy, beautiful smile is the goal of every orthodontic treatment. But to achieve that goal we no longer are limited to traditional metal braces and wires. Invisalign is a system of custom-made clear aligners, which takes a modern approach to achieving a healthy, beautiful smile. Invisalign aligners are computer generated from a custom mold of your teeth. The treatment plan is tailored to each individual patient’s needs and goals. The aligners are then changed approximately every two weeks while they gently move your teeth into the proper position until we achieve the perfect smile for you!
Benefits of Invisalign?
Invisalign allows you to live your daily life without skipping a beat while achieving a perfect smile. The custom trays that move your teeth are fabricated from clear plastic that is imperceptible to the public.
Invisalign allows for very easy home care and hygiene. The trays are completely removable which means they do not interfere with your homecare routine of flossing or brushing. Healthier gums and teeth are essential during orthodontic treatment, and can lead to more effective and faster treatment.
Invisalign does not require wire changes and tightening as with traditional braces. Changing the clear aligners approximately every two weeks move the teeth in a gentle manner with minimal pain and discomfort.
Invisalign is a great treatment option for teens as well as adults. The clear aligner system moves teeth discretely but very effectively.
Downfalls of Invisalign?
Wearing your clear aligners 22 hours/day is non negotiable and one of the biggest downfalls of the Invisalign system. Unless the clear aligners are worn the specified number of hours your teeth will not move as predicted and treatment time will be extended and optimal results may no be achieved. So a commitment from the patient to follow through with treatment and wear the aligners 22 hours/day is an absolute MUST!
Invisalign also requires the addition of ‘attachments’ or as patients like to call them ‘bumps’ to your teeth to provide the proper forces on the teeth to move them in the desired position. The attachments are tooth colored and blend perfectly with your own tooth shade. Attachments are necessary for proper tooth movement but just like the clear aligners themselves they are almost imperceptible and are only a minor inconvenience.

TRADITIONAL BRACES
The tried-and-true orthodontic solution that gets the job done!
What are traditional braces?
We all know and love traditional metal braces and wires. Traditional braces use brackets and wires to gently move your teeth in the proper position and still remain an excellent treatment option for children, teens, and adults. Traditional braces move teeth with wires that are changed approximately every 4-8 weeks. Wire changes go hand in hand with changing colors on your braces, letting you express your artistic side. If metal braces are not for you we offer clear braces that are just as effective but more inconspicuous and esthetic.
Benefits of traditional braces?
Unlike clear aligners traditional braces do not require remembering to wear them 22 hours/day, they are not removable and stay on your teeth for the duration of your treatment. Traditional braces cannot be lost or chewed by your pet (which is a frequent occurrence with clear aligners).
Traditional braces can achieve the most complicated tooth movements that are sometimes not possible with clear aligners. The goal of orthodontic treatment is to not only straighten your teeth but to achieve a healthy smile and a beautiful bite. This sometimes requires complicated tooth movements that can only be done with traditional braces.
Downfalls of traditional braces?
Unlike clear aligners traditional braces are visible on your teeth. Hygiene is a little more challenging with traditional braces as they cannot be removed from your teeth and require a little more effort to maintain your teeth and gums clean and healthy.
